Vitamin K is required for the proper production of certain proteins used in the blood clotting process and vitamin K antagonists inhibit the recycling of Vitamin K, helping to prevent blood clots. Commonly prescribed vitamin K antagonists include Coumadin (warfarin) and Warfarin Sodium (warfarin sodium).
