Antirheumatics are drugs used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and to change the course of the disease. They incorporate a number of other drug classes, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), steroids, and disease modifying rheumatoid arthritis drugs (DMARDs). Commonly prescribed anti-rheumatics include Trexall (methotrexate), Arava (leflunomide), Imuran (azathioprine), and Sulfazine (sulfasalazine).
