Anti-epileptic(or anti-convulsant) drugs are used to control seizures and treat patients with epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia. They may also be prescribed to treat bipolar disorder, migraines and other conditions. Anti-epileptics function by reducing irregular brain impulses that can cause pain and seizures. There are many anti-epileptics, but Carbatrol (Carbamazepine) and Neurontin (gabapentin) are among the most common.
