Alkyl sulfonates are alkylating agents used in the treatment of various forms of cancer, including melanoma, Hodgkin's disease, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, leukemia and prostate cancer. They work by inhibiting and slowing the growth of cancer cells. Commonly prescribed alkyl sulfonates include Temodar (temozolomide), Gleostine (lomustine) and Leukeran (chlorambucil).
